Poetic Philanthropy

I have always known that being a poet will not make me rich, but I promised myself that whatever money I might make from publishing my poetry would go to charity. I have been blessed with a wonderful family, set of friends and network of people that helped me build a solid, stable career that affords me with a comfortable lifestyle, and I believe in helping others in whatever way I can. When I published Thirty Dollars and a Bowl of Soup, I promised to make donations to several charitable organizations with the profits, and because of the generous support of friends and family, I was able to keep that promise. I believe in human rights--that everyone should have clean air, water, food, housing,

education, and access to a fair criminal justice system, so I am proud to support the work of these organizations: The Innocence Project (https://www.innocenceproject.org/), the Lambi Fund (http://www.lambifund.org/), and Aid for Africa (https://www.aidforafrica.org/home/).
